Getting businesses to participate is a matter of identifying what the benefit will be to them - whether that is credit in the form of promotion at and before the event or they are able to sell product or services on-site. After all, it is a day spent away from their core business, and you want it to be a win-win situation.
In some cases, it might be prudent to have your company pay for a day's worth of services rather than pass the cost along to the employees. This is advisable in cases like health screening services or on-site massage therapy. Another option is to bring students of local wellness schools in to help in trade for co-op credits or work experience hours.
